A little help with numbers

Weighted grade calculator

Check a course calculation when assessments carry different weights. See your weighted average on the entered work and how much of the course it represents.

Enter score percentages and the component’s percentage of the full course. Combined weight must be at most 100%.

Weights describe each component’s share

A quiz scored at 80% with a course weight of 20% contributes 16 percentage points to the final course result. A project scored at 70% with a 30% weight contributes 21. The entered contribution is therefore 37 points out of the whole course, while the combined assessed weight is 50%. On the assessed work alone, the weighted average is 37 ÷ 50 × 100 = 74%.

Separate the assessed average from the final result

If some work is missing, an assessed average is not a final grade. The remaining weight is shown explicitly so you can see how much is unentered. This tool does not assume that an unentered component received zero and does not award a letter grade. To compute a full-course result, enter all components with weights totaling 100%.

Follow the institution’s actual rules

Courses can use grade boundaries, dropped scores, scaling, minimum exam requirements, or special rounding policies. Those rules are not inferred here. Convert point scores to percentages correctly before entering them, and do not mix raw points with percentage scores. Each score must be 0–100%, each weight greater than zero, and combined weights no more than 100%. Use the official course system as the authoritative record.

Good questions.

Why is my average different from my contribution?

The assessed average normalizes only the entered work. The contribution is the number of points earned toward the entire 100% course.

Can I enter raw exam points?

Convert them to a percentage first: earned points ÷ possible points × 100.

Does this determine my official grade?

No. Check course-specific rules and the official record.
